On April 1, 2024, we were able to start the project with the recruitment of the first employees.

The Corpus Judaeo-Hellenisticum (CJH ) includes the entirety of the surviving literary, non-literary and material evidence of early (pre-rabbinic) Judaism (including the Qumran finds) as it developed under the conditions of the Hellenistic-Roman world between around 300 BC and 200 AD. The aim of the project is the complete recording, digital documentation and commentary evaluation of the CJH with regard to its significance for the interpretation of the New Testament from the roots of Judaism, which was shaped by Greco-Roman culture. The current project will create a digital multilingual research platform for ancient studies that will enable the realization of the project for the first time and at the same time implement interfaces for a sustainable continuation of the research work with regard to further corpora of ancient sources and integrate existing databases and digital tools. In addition to the digital platform, a commentary series in book form is to be produced.

Our project officially began on January 1, 2024, but in April we started with the recruitment of new employees and the actual work on the project. Our first steps are to create our platform, collect and review the data collected to date and list all sources and their editions. At the same time, the authors will be working on the commentary texts.

Our project will begin with a kick-off meeting on 16.04.2024 at 9 a.m. at the Saxon Academy, where we will work on the project goals and milestones, a risk analysis, an organization chart and a communication plan, among other things, according to the guidelines of classic project management.
We are also preparing a large conference in September to which we want to invite all those involved in the project to date. This will take place in Leipzig from September 13-15, 2024.
